Gallant recently agreed to terms with the city to operate the restaurant and bar at the Restigouche River Experience Centre, the first operator to take over after the eatery was closed two years ago.

The Snack Bar Restigouche is relocating to the building from the Inch Arran Park in Dalhousie.

Gallant plans to offer a similar but extended menu as was offered in the past at the waterfront location, but also with a particular New Brunswick and local taste,

“Our drink menu is exclusively from New Brunswick, including beers, ciders, coolers, craft soda, and much, much more,” she said, adding other items will be in collaboration with local businesses.

“Collaboration is one of our core values,” she said.

The restaurant had been a popular spot along the banks of the Restigouche River and Gallant hopes to make it a go-to eatery this summer.

“We aim to create unique experiences,” she said. “People can expect local products, a fun family vibe, or simply enjoy the outdoors and views of the bridge and Appalachian Mountains.”

Gallant also hopes to keep prices down.

“Our main goal is to get tourists, cyclists, campers and even locals to experience their first sip of New Brunswick. We will have outdoor games, some board games, and we’re keeping some of customers’ favourites such as our weekly trivia night.”

Gallant and her staff, with the help of friends and family, began moving the equipment from Dalhousie to the Campbellton waterfront last week. She said because there are still some details to be worked out, she’s not quite sure when the new location will open, only that it will be “as soon as we can.”
