COVID numbers tell different story

Regarding letter writer Dr. Nicholas Tracy of Fredericton – what science are you referring to when you say “the science”?

The science of masks preventing respiratory viruses, despite what is written on the packaging? Despite common sense and over a 100 years of medicine? What about the science of physical distancing? The fact that six feet was some magical number here, yet in some countries their magical “science number “ was three feet?

And what about the science of COVID-19 vaccines? If these vaccines are so wonderful why is it that with vaccine after vaccine after booster after booster, our death rate is 60 per cent above the national average? Oh, that’s right, because we aren’t strictly controlled by draconian nonsensical measures anymore. Yet no one else is either. Hmmmm.

If we take the official COVID mortality data at face value, all of the patterns and evidence argue that if governments and media had never mentioned COVID, nobody would have noticed anything out of the ordinary.

Closure of centre prompts many questions

Five-hundred senior members of the Lions Community Centre in Moncton were informed on January 5, 2024 that their club would no longer operate due to lack of a centralized facility.

Fifty years ago, the Lions Club conveyed the original facility to The City of Moncton for $1 to be always used as a seniors’ centre with the city providing staff to operate it. Due to the current homeless situation, it was converted to a homeless shelter last year for those needing refuge from the cold. Understandably, that was something that had to be done.

However, one would think by taking the centre for a homeless shelter that the City of Moncton and the province would replace that centre so the seniors would still have their own facility. It was our understanding that the city would provide a temporary location for a year, which they did, but the lease has now expired.

However, a new central seniors’ centre has not been forthcoming, instead they offered different satellite locations around the city which meant losing continuity and having to travel further by both instructors and members, some of which have no means of transportation to get to those locations.

Thus, with all the ensuing issues, the members received a letter from the board of directors informing them of the closure of the senior’s program completely. The various classes, lessons, socializing and fitness which took place in the centre helped keep seniors active and healthy.

One would think, in these days of our medical system being overrun, that good health and fitness would be a priority, especially to seniors.

Apparently not so!
