
Downtown Moncton stages Operation Clean Sweep


Downtown Moncton Centre-Ville Inc. will join with the RCMP and the City of Moncton on Friday to host Operation Clean Sweep, a clean up and security awareness initiative.
The cleanup and security initiative will be aimed at downtown property owners and merchants. The street cleaning will begin at Youth Quest, 199 St. George St., at 9:30 a.m. A tree planing ceremony is scheduled at 11 a.m. at the Moncton Press Club. The Oulton's cadets will stage a ceremonial march at noon in front of City Hall, to be followed by a barbecue from noon to 1 p.m., also at City Hall.
Beauséjour Health Authority launches website
The Beauséjour Regional Health Authority has launched a new French-language website to inform health professionals, school teachers and the public about infection control.
The site can be found at www.transmissionzero.ca. It includes information about proper hand washing and hygiene to prevent spread of infection, and also information about needles and various methods of preventing infectious diseases.
Home-grown success stories studied
A Harvard Business School expert will help MBA students from around the province document some of New Brunswick's best known business success stories.
Over the next year, the students will develop a package of formal case studies and teaching notes profiling such companies as Assomption Life, Major Drilling, Moosehead Breweries and other high profile businesses, which will be incorporated into the business curricula at the University of New Brunswick and l'Université de Moncton.
The project is supported by the Wallace McCain Institute.
Architecture festival sold out
The Festival of Architecture trade show, set for June 27 in Fredericton, has already been sold out.
The conference is expected to attract up to 400 participants. It will feature workshops and events for architects.
G.L. Caissie Ltd. celebrates 50 years
G.L. Caissie Ltd., a plumbing and heating business in Richibucto, will celebrate 50 years in business with a barbecue and birthday cake on June 7 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Rhéal Caissie now heads the business that his father set up 50 years ago.
"Business is different today with the big box stores in Moncton and Internet shopping, but at G.L. Caissie, employees make sure that by offering good quality products and a good service, the client wins by dealing with professionals," he said.
The company deals in plumbing, heating, ventilation equipment, stoves and fireplaces. It has 25 employees and 10 trucks.
