Clément-Cormier High School students (left to right, Luc Cormier, Isabelle Allain, Émilie Pellerin) took first place in the service division at the 2008 Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge.

A team from Riverview High came in third in the services category with their business idea i-scan and a team from École L'Odyssée placed third in the product category for Les Perles Acadiennes. The two received a $350 prize each.

Cédric and Samuel Girouard from École Mathieu-Martin came in second in the summer venture category with their business Skimboards P.D.C. They received a $500 award as well as a $3,000 no interest loan from the provincial government to start up their business for the summer.

The winner of the summer venture category was a group from Hartland Community School with their business proposal called TempTat. They received a $1,000 prize as well as a loan.

The product and services categories' finishers weren't given loans to put their proposals into action, but they did receive prizes of $1,500, $750 and $350 for placing first second and third respectively.

A team from Woodstock High School took first place in the product division with their project Bottom's Up and second place went to École Clément-Cormier in Bouctouche for Jeu Mon AliMent.

First place in the service division went to the team from École Clément-Cormier in Bouctouche for their project Nutri-Centre. Second place went to Polyvalente Roland-Pépin in Campbellton for Trio Santé.

Of the over 50 applications that Enterprise Greater Moncton received, they selected five each for the product and services divisions and two for the summer venture category.

"This challenge is an opportunity to give them (students) a taste of what (entrepreneurship) would be like," said Enterprise Greater Moncton's Ginette LeBlanc before the event. "We want to show our business community what our youth are made of," she said.
