Airport ready to face challenges

Miramichi Airport announced last month that it has entered into negotiations to obtain its goal of expanding, making it once again one of the top 10 runways in Canada.
This new opportunity will allow foreign air carriers to use Miramichi Airport as a trans-shipment point for cargo coming from and destined for points outside Canada.
The Canadian Government has signed open skies agreements worldwide that will increase demand for all cargo traffic.
This agreement, which replaces a previous Memorandum of Understanding on Air Services, goes into effect immediately.
“Additional Canadian gateways are under consideration for future development.”
Miramichi Airport is now identifying new international partners in the Cargo trans-shipment industry.
“Our goal is to make Miramichi the newest gateway to Canada” says Ray Stinson, president and CEO.
