For many investors, Research In Motion Ltd. occupies a similar place as Nortel Networks Corp. did not so many years ago. RIM, the maker of BlackBerry devices, is far and away the biggest and most prominent high-technology firm based in Canada, just as Nortel was at the turn of the millennium.
