N.S. exports predicted to drop by 20 per cent in 2009
HALIFAX - Nova Scotia's exports are expected to drop 20 per cent in 2009, due to slumping demand for fishery products and lower natural gas supplies, according to Export Development Canada. Agrifood accounts for 19 per cent of Nova Scotia's exports, while energy products comprise 29 per cent. Fishery exports will decline 21 per cent, while energy exports will plummet 47 per cent. The province's exports are predicted to recover by a modest 2 per cent in 2010.

PetroWorth enters joint venture for P.E.I. well drilling
CALGARY - PetroWorth Resources Inc. (CNSX:PTW) announced Wednesday it has entered into a joint venture agreement with Pittsburgh, Pa.-based Ardent Resources Canada Ltd. for oil and gas exploration and development on Prince Edward Island. The agreement requires Ardent to drill two wells on PetroWorth's licensed property on the eastern half of P.E.I. to earn a 50 per cent interest in 180,000 hectares, covered by six oil and gas permits.

$4.18M Route 108 bridge construction to begin
FREDERICTON - Construction will begin this week on a new bridge on Route 108 between New Denmark and Drummond the provincial government announced Wednesday. The Department of Transportation awarded the contract to Dunbar Construction Ltd. of Fredericton after the company won the tender with a $4.18 million bid. The new bridge is scheduled to open to traffic in August 2010. The existing bridge will remain in service until then.
