PQ Leader Pauline Marois proves mettle with early AM walk with reporters

MONTREAL - Parti Quebecois Leader Pauline Marois was planning to give the reporters covering her campaign a head start Friday morning with pre-dawn walk on picturesque Mount Royal.

Marois, 59, has been dogged by allegations that she's exhausted and running on fumes. Reporters have focused in particular on the absence of consistent evening events on the PQ campaign trail so far. So, Marois shot back with an early-morning invite to reporters, who have accepted.

Action democratique du Quebec Leader Mario Dumont is trekking through northwestern Quebec with stops in ridings traditionally considered PQ strongholds.

Meanwhile, Premier Jean Charest has two news conferences scheduled Friday in Montreal, but the Liberal party has remained mum on both the location and announcements.

The PQ leader also will discuss "the Marois plan for the economy" during a lunchtime speech to the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal.

The economy has dominated the agenda as Quebecers go to the polls on Dec. 8.
