Casablanca Spa & Slimming Centre to hold open house tomorrow
Fadwa El Hardouzi is bringing a little of her native Morocco to Moncton at the brand new Casablanca Spa & Slimming Centre located in the Delta Beauséjour hotel.
El Hardouzi, who is originally from Casablanca, has lived in Moncton for about six years and completed a business degree at l'Université de Moncton. After graduating, she knew she wanted to start her own business and, after doing her research, decided to open a spa.
"I've been going to a lot of international spa shows and talking to people in other cities to see what they offer because I wanted to bring the best for the Moncton people," El Hardouzi says.
Casablanca Spa offers the complete line of esthetic and body treatments you would expect to find at a spa, such a facials, manicures, and pedicures, but also prides itself on offering services that aren't widely available in this region.
Press-O-Therapy is one example, a treatment that uses infrared lights to help eliminate cellulite and improve the condition of the skin.
"We also have a lot of body treatments that other spas don't have; body wraps, chocolate, green tea, seaweed for firming," El Hardouzi says. "We do steam therapy, which is kind of a steam tent and then we exfoliate the skin and put on different masks. Especially with the winter here, it is good to take care of your skin to prevent aging."
For a real treat, sign up for the Traditional Moroccan Ritual, which includes a treatment using black soap made from pressed olives and salt that El Hardouzi says is very good for the skin, followed by a trip into the steam tent, skin exfoliation with an organic product, and a massage with Argan oil.
All of the products used in the treatment are brought in from Morocco.
El Hardouzi says many of their treatment methods are based on Chinese medicine; their facials do not include squeezing the skin to remove blackheads, for example, and the skin products used are based on the season.
"We have the best of every culture here," El Hardouzi says.
While many people automatically assume a trip to the spa is a pricey venture, El Hardouzi says her aim is to keep prices at a very competitive rate. Manicures and pedicures start at $25, while facials start at $35.
"Our concept is the best service and excellent quality," she says. "When people see the price list and the services we offer, they think it is good. Everybody can afford to get a spa service. And it is important for our health, important for our bodies."
The Casablanca Spa is holding a grand opening celebration tomorrow to give people a chance check out the facility. Tours will be available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and visitors can sign up to receive a complimentary facial or body treatment from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. from a representative from Phyto 5, a line of organic products used at the spa.
