New Dieppe exercise business brings innovative technology to east coast
A new business in Dieppe is sending vibrations through the competitive field of personal-fitness by offering something never seen before in Metro Moncton.
T-Zone Vibration Technology promises their exercise machines and routines will burn fat, increase muscle strength and take off inches during exercise sessions that last only 10 minutes.
New to Canada, the VT-7 vibrating exercise machines have been in use for years in Europe, Australia, the United States and in workout rooms of professional sports teams, T-Zone officials say.
Fitness buff and regional manager Emma MacDougall says she was convinced to go to work for T-Zone after trying one of their machines.
"My first time on the machine, I felt it," MacDougall says.
"Once I actually got on the machine, I was sold. It's a huge energy boost."
A big attraction for many will be the private booths in which patrons can exercise, unlike public gyms. Each booth is roomy enough to bring with you a change of clothes and to perform any number of exercises. Each booth will also have its own weights and exercise balls.
The company attributes a wide variety of health claims to their VT-7 machines, but backs them up by citing more than two dozen university studies on the benefits of this type of technology.
The machine is purported to tone bodies, improve flexibility, increase bone-mass density, and enhance balance and co-ordination, to name a few.
Some of its fans buy the machine outright, at $1,600, while others join the club for $50 per month, which allows unlimited use. The company finances VT-7 purchases themselves and says most credit approvals take about one minute.
The VT-7 looks like a stepping machine, but it produces vertical vibrations from a side-alternating rocking movement which simulates walking, jogging or running -- that's entirely up to the user. The stimulus forces your body's muscles to contract up to 45 times per second. It affects every muscle in the human body.
Each exercise booth is well lit and features a roster of more than 30 different exercises the user can perform.
If you want more, consultants are on site to offer more than 200 different types of exercises that can be performed on the machines, which each feature a simple set of controls that allow you to exercise at your own pace.
That's one of the beauties of it, says MacDougall, because everyone, no matter their age, agility or ability, can exercise at their own pace and in the complete privacy of their own booth.
T-Zone also offers a variety of cleansing foods and body products for sale, ranging from wheat germ to crystalized and iodized salt that has no sodium so it doesn't boost water retention, to bath salts, shampoos and body lotions.
T-Zone also offers gift certificates, just in time for Christmas.
The competition is tough in the fitness business in Metro Moncton with many options available to consumers, but MacDougall is convinced that once someone tries their vibration technology just once, they'll be sold.
"I haven't had anyone yet that I've given a consultation to who didn't sign up."
Most often, she says, first-timers return with friends in tow. To encourage that, they offer a free month's membership to anyone who brings a friend who also joins.
