Porter said an engine caution light illuminated and the captain chose to land out of caution.

“The aircraft will be assessed by our maintenance team before being returned to service,” Brad Cicero, a spokesperson for Porter, said in an email. “In the meantime, passengers are being rebooked on alternate flights.”

The flight had taken off from Moncton at 7:15 a.m. and landed in Fredericton at about 8:15 a.m., said Kate O’Rourke, manager of public relations and marketing for the airport.

Oromocto fire Chief Jody Price, whose department was called to the scene, said airport crash rescue were on scene, but fire crews were quickly cleared.
