Breakwater stock plunges 17 per cent in heavy trading

TORONTO - Breakwater Resources Ltd. (TSX:BWR) shares fell 16.83 per cent at the Toronto Stock Exchange, where the zinc producer was the most heavily traded issue on Friday.

The stock drop came after the Toronto-based mining company reported a first-quarter loss of $6.86 million or two cents a share late Thursday, compared with a profit of $15.29 million or four cents a share a year earlier.

Its shares dropped 17 cents to close at 84 cents on 27,337,908 shares traded Friday.
