The end of the print newspaper era

I spent part of the weekend in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, giving a keynote speech to Atlantic Canada's student journalists.

I had three key messages:

- That the age of the print newspaper is coming to a close.
- That by working together student newspapers in Atlantic Canada can help each other make the transition to the web
- That you can make money online, but in new and different ways than in print advertising.

The most depressing part is what the world will look like without good journalism. Who will dig up the dirt on politicians, go to council meetings, file right to information requests. Here's a take from a little closer to home:
