118 AN EXAMPLE

118 AN EXAMPLE

We were born and learned most of what we are [careful; I didn’t say ‘what we know’.] from our father. [Again, be careful; I didn’t say ‘from our parents’.]

The father, or dominating male of the family, is the number one influence in a child’s life. That child will learn how to deal with their problems in life from that person, they will get most of their personality from that person and they will get most of their good and bad habits from that person. [Again, be careful; I didn’t say whether the problems solving and personality would be good or bad.]

They get this from that person whether that person wants to teach it to them or not. They will get it by watching that person and will either mimic them or be disgusted with what they see and will determine not to be like that person.

Men; your life and the way you live it is what this world is and is becoming. God gave the responsibility of the leadership in the home, in the land and over all creation to Adam.

The fact that women are better than men at some things is a gift to the man responsible to enhance that woman’s life.

God does not forgive the men that choose to abandon this responsibility but, upon repentance, will expect them to take up their normal place in God’s world and be the leader and example of correct living that He intended them to be.

Adam allowed his wife to take him to the tree that they had no business being near and watched her, with out any warning, eat the fruit that God commanded them not to eat; then, from her example, ate the fruit also. This was not good leadership but the beginning of the bad example of the way to do things that he passed down through the generations to Jesus lifetime and, as it was passed down, it grew worse and worse as men gave up their role as Godly leaders and sought their own pleasure instead.

Jesus, being God’s son, became the first true example of the way men are supposed to live and act. This set up the duel male lifestyle that exists today. Those that follow Jesus’ example and live a Godly life are few and far between and those that have abandoned God’s role for men are becoming more and more evident.

There is no such thing as resigning from your responsibility and living another way without any ill consequences. When God gave you life, He also entrusted you with this precious gift of being an example of righteousness to all those around you; this gift of showing the rest of humanity how to please Him in love, peace and joy. The fact that you learned the wrong way from those over and around you does not excuse you because somewhere, in your life, God has placed an example of the correct way to live for Him and He has given you enough thinking ability to reason through what you see and learn to get to His truth.

Until you get it right, you are an example of the wrong way to live to all those that are watching you, even if it is just a glance that lasts for a few seconds. This means that you are and have been an example of some kind to hundreds of thousands of people and, more likely, millions upon millions of people. [And, by second hand example, possibly thousands of millions of people depending on what bad habit you started and how fast it spread.]

You are an example of good or evil and God has given you the ability to find out which and the help so that you can stop, if you want to. Everything is up to you.

[I have not picked on the women in this one because they have to put up with us:)]

God entrusts the child to the family the heart of the which is found in the matrimonial gifts brought by the husband and the wife. In saying "wives should be submissive to their husbands as if to the Lord" (Eph. 5:22) this is not to say the husband is "lord" of the wife and that the reciprocal and communitarian relationship is a pact of dominmation of the husband over the wife. The husband and wife are "subjected to one another" and mutually subordinated to one another. Both fathers and mothers in conjugal love become in the deepest reality "one flesh". In becoming parents, spouses recieve equal measure of this gift from God of a new responsibility. Their parental love a visible sign to the children of God's own love.

Good one, Wally.
Yes, a child is a joint responsibilty and a gift from God to both parents but He has given the responsibilty of leadership to the man. This does not mean that he is to command his family but he is supposed to evaluate each one and bring out their best points and correct their bad habits.
A man has chosen a life-mate when he takes a wife and God expects him to learn her good and bad traits, then enhance her life so she can be the help-mate that God intended her to be to her husband and the confident mother of his children.
The bible also says that " Eph 5:28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself."

Approaching the Nativity of Our Lord the Holy Family takes on its significance as being the "cradle" of our salvation. It is in this family that Our Lord was formed, nourished, protected and prepared as the Christ Child.
It is Mary's fiat "Let it be done to me..." that echoes in the history of our salvation. In her complete subjugation to the Will of God, Mary experienced no fear. In the face of rejection by men Mary did not hesitate to make her fiat. Her fiat was immediate without conditions or fear.
In Eve, sin entered into the world. And through Mary, the second Eve, mans salvation became possible, was formed in her womb and born unto us.
But Joseph, her betrothed, was deeply troubled upon recieving the good news. The Angel of the Lord came to him drawing him out of fear, "Be not afraid" to take Mary as your wife! In Mary we see the full role of woman in the family.Without her fiat where would the worlds families be today? Without her fiat where would our salvation have come?

Thank you, Wally
I'm glad that you enjoy what the Lord has given me and thank you for your seasonal blessing; it is heartfully returned also on you and yours.
You're right, Mary made a great decission based on her faith and the world now has it's saviour.
This got me to thinking; we all know about the male hero's of faith but look at Rahab. A Canaanite whore that, by faith, took in the Hebrew messengers; was saved from Jericho and later married Salmon and became David's great grandmother. Then there is Ruth; a Moabite who, by faith, followed and obeyed her Hebrew stepmother and married Boaz to become David's grandmother.
The bible says; Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Faith is not just for men; it's for everybody.

Blog: Always Learning

Hi. I am Stephen Porter; a Christian who is also a normal everyday working person. I have been a Christian for over 30 years. God has gone to a great deal of trouble to let us know Him intimately and to help us understand His way of doing things, so this blog is simply my attempt to help you know and understand God in today's ordinary world. I will not argue with anyone but I will try to expand on your understanding by answering as many questions as my time will allow.
